Before becoming a full-time catholic wedding film maker, I served as a full-time youth minister, walking alongside hundreds of teens on their faith journeys. One of those teens was this bride, Alexa.
During my time as a youth minister, I routinely reminded teens that we have a responsibility to help each other reach heaven in any vocation that we might be called to. It was abundantly clear throughout capturing Alexa and Joseph’s wedding day that these two were striving for heaven together.
From their prayers for one another before mass, to the witness accounts from their loved ones, Alexa and Joseph’s Catholic wedding was a sparkling reflection of Christ’s love.
Sharing Timeless Moments through Catholic Wedding Videography
A Catholic wedding film gives couples the opportunity to watch their wedding day over and over again.
One of my favorite moments to film was the first look with Alexa’s father. Father-daughter first looks are always emotional scenes, but I never tire of capturing them. For the rest of her life, Alexa will have this special time between her and her father recorded—the beaming joy in his eyes, the pride in his voice when he tells her, “I’m so proud of you”, and finally the quiet embrace before Alexa walks down the aisle. These are details that photography doesn’t capture in quite the same way as a wedding film does. It was such a gift to give Alexa and Joseph a wedding video full of moments like these and more.
Alexa and Joseph surrounded themselves with the kindest, most joyful friends and family. Their bridal party, composed of friends made at the Catholic Student Center at USF, was so fun to watch throughout the day. Throughout the day of filming, it was clear that this bridal party was dedicated to supporting Alexa and Joseph’s marriage. The best man and maid-of-honor delivered beautiful speeches praising the couple, adding a heartfelt sequence to the final wedding film.
This wedding was also a shining example of how connected the Catholic Church is. While it is the Universal Church, Catholicism can sometimes feels like a small world! I knew so many guests at this wedding—former youth ministry students, wedding film clients, SPO Missionaries at USF, and more—and it was so special to see so many familiar faces on the wedding day.
Memorializing Heartfelt Toasts and Conversations
A film is only as good as its audio quality is. I am so glad we could record the beautiful letters that Alexa and Joseph read to one another. Similarly, Alexa and Joseph will always be able to listen back to what their friends and family said to them on their wedding day during the toasts. Even the audio of Alexa getting ready with her bridesmaids will be a treasured detail, as it features laughter, her mother’s voice, and uplifting chatter.
Creating Alexa and Joseph’s Catholic wedding video was an extra special job for me as Alexa’s former youth minister. As a Catholic wedding videographer, it was another joyfully executed project highlighting a couple devout to each other and to God on the happiest day of their lives.
