Ruby and Richard’s Wedding at San Jose Catholic Church | Jacksonville, FL

April 29, 2026

Ruby and Richard’s Wedding at San Jose Catholic Church in Jacksonville was another beautiful Florida wedding captured by Four Loves Photo and Film. While it was a standard Catholic Nuptial Mass, there were several details that made this wedding stand out among others. Here is a brief recap of the unique details that made Ruby and Richard’s wedding their own!

Ruby and Richard entered their wedding arm-in-arm, processing down the aisle together. While this seems non-traditional, it is actually typical in most other Catholic countries. The liturgical tradition symbolizes that a couple enters the sacrament of marriage together.

According to the National Catholic Register, the custom of a father “giving away” his daughter was introduced by Protestant culture, and only became customary in American Catholic weddings during the mid-twentieth century.

It was a joy to witness this resurging tradition in the United States at Ruby and Richard’s Catholic wedding.

There is a special place in my heart for St. Joseph (my Confirmation saint!) and his role in the Holy Family, which is why I absolutely loved when Ruby and Richard gave devotion to both Mother Mary and St. Joseph during their wedding. They honored Mary with flowers, and honored St. Joseph by laying a carpenter’s hammer at his statue.

One of our favorite shots from this wedding at San Jose Catholic Church was taken while the tabernacle was open during Holy Communion. We love the way Ruby and Richard’s faces reflect in the open tabernacle. It created a stylistic representation of how Christ is present in the Eucharist and in the married relationship!

Not only were Ruby and Richard surrounded by family on their wedding day, they also had the unique opportunity to be wed by a family member, too. Richard’s uncle presided as the priest at their wedding mass.

It was a privilege to witness Ruby and Richard’s wedding at San Jose Catholic Church. We loved learning more about them, and wish them the best of luck as they follow aspirations to open a fertility clinic together!
