We can’t let the month of June end without acknowledging the father-of-the-bride, father-of-the-groom, and St. Joseph moments that we see at Catholic weddings across the country. Whether it’s a moment of private prayer, a devotion to St. Joseph, or a first-look photo, Four Loves Photo and Film loves to capture these significant moments. Here are a few of recent favorites.
Father-of-the-Bride Moments at a Catholic Wedding
We think it is so special when a bride does a first look with her father before walking down the aisle. These fathers beamed with pride and joy as they embraced their daughters before walking down the aisle!
This father and daughter took a few moments to pray with each other before the wedding began. Sometimes a wedding day can feel like it is flashing by in a whirlwind. We loved how these two stopped to spend time together before the big “I Do”.
Finally, this moment between Justine, her father, and John is truly beautiful. John, face damp with tears after seeing Justine walk down the aisle, shared an earnest handshake with Justine’s father at the end of the aisle. Dad looks proud and emotional, and we think it is a beautiful exchange.
Father-of-the-Groom Moments at a Catholic Wedding
The grooms also share special moments with their own fathers before walking down the aisle. Sometimes this moment looks like dad fastening a boutonniere or fixing a tie. It is a final instance for father and son to be together before the son begins his new family with his bride.
“For this reason a man shall leave [his] father and [his] mother and be joined to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh.” -Ephesians 5:31
Honoring St. Joseph, the Patron Saint of Fathers at a Catholic Wedding
Since he is the patron saint of fathers, we love when couples dedicate a few minutes of their wedding day to honor St. Joseph. One couple, Ruby and Richard, honored St. Joseph at their wedding by bringing a carpenter’s hammer to his statue in the church.
